"Best in Show" meets "Hands on a Hardbody"...a documentary exploring the deep complexities and dynamics of the annual Wiener Dog Races in Buda, TX. Hilarious and touching, this film takes a look at small town America having good, clean, competitive fun. Entertainment for all ages and animal lovers (especially Dachshund Lovers) everywhere!! The total running time is about 25 minutes. The film screened at South By Southwest Film Festival and audiences loved it! If you saw the story about the Buda Wiener Dog Races on the national CBS Sunday Morning show on May 2, this DVD was sent to them and that's what sparked their interest to come to Buda for the May 2 piece. The movie is similar to their story but much longer with more coverage and depth to the event and people. It covers the history of the Races, the parade with all the costumed dogs, and the winners of the costume contest and their parents. It also goes into the races and we follow different people and their stories.
A portion of all the proceeds go to the local chapter of the non-profit Lions Club which puts the event on every year as their annual fundraiser. They help underprivileged children and adults with all vision related problems and diabetes and send disabled kids to their camp, Lions Camp, every summer.
