DachshundGifts.com would like to
remind our Dachshund Friends that Halloween Holidays may pose special dangers
to our pets. Please read the Info below:
“During
the week preceding October 31, pet owners should be especially careful to keep
their dogs and cats confined inside a house or locked yard unless supervised. Every
year around Halloween, there are reports of dogs, cats, and even horses killed
or severely maimed by individuals who take sadistic pleasure in torturing
animals. Black cats, popular with
persons practicing or dabbling in cult rituals, may be more at risk than cats
of other colors or dogs, but all animals should be watched carefully.”
“Candy and sweets should not be shared
with pets.Dogs are especially sensitive
to chocolate which contains a stimulant called Theobromine.Even in small doses it can make dogs very
ill, and may even cause death.Should
your dog eat chocolate, it is critical that you take him or her to a
veterinarian immediately!”
“Pets should not be taken on trick or
treating rounds with children or allowed to greet costumed children at the
door.If frightened by oddly dressed and
masked strangers, even a normally very friendly and calm pet may react
aggressively or try to bolt.”
